NHWBA: committees

As a member-driven organization, we rely on our members to come together and help us to continue to bring new events, benefits and programming to our members. This work is done through the following committees:

  • Programming Committee - This committee plans and offers 3-4 CLE courses per year.
  • Networking Committee - This committee plans 4-5 social and after-hours networking events per year. They also organizes the spring golf clinic and the stress relief spa weekend.
  • Evening Speaker Committee - This committee plans and organizes evening programs to bring authors and experts to speak to members about particular topics of interest to members.
  • Brown Bag Lunch Committee - This committee plans 45-minute lunchtime tele-classes on topics that focus on work/life balance and practice development.
  • Public Policy Committee - This committee identifies current policy initiatives (mostly statewide but possibly national policy initiatives as well) of possible concern to our members or to the community at large and makes recommendations to the Board as to whether the association should take a public position on such initiatives.
  • Women in the Judiciary Committee - This committee brings information and programs to our members to encourage more women to consider a career in the judiciary. Past initiatives include offering a Path to the Bench program to educate women attorneys on the judicial selection process.
  • Sponsorship & Member Benefits Committee - This committee assists the other committees in getting sponsorship from outside sources - both monetary and in kind donations - and developing partnerships with business groups and service providers to offer special benefits for our members.
  • Public Service Committee - This committee plans and implements both short- and long-term public service projects, including food drives and other events to support local charities.
  • Scholarship Fund Committee - This committee assists the association in developing fundraising strategies for continued funding for the Winnie McLaughlin Scholarship.
  • Mentoring Committee - This committee develops programs that facilitate mentoring in a small group format, such as a Table for Eight program where gatherings of 1-2 senior women lawyers and 6-7 junior attorneys or law students meet over dinner to candidly discuss a topic of interest.
